Hrithik was the first choice for Don.....
Did you know, Hrithik Roshan was the first choice for Don?
Director Farhan Akhtar and Hrithik had mutually decided to work together in the Don remake, after Lakshya. But after writing the script, Farhan felt he needed a more mature actor and approached Shahrukh Khan. Hrithik was obviously disappointed. But the rest, as they say, is history.
Soon after missing out on Don, Hrithik was signed by Yashraj Films for Dhoom 2, which went on to be one of the biggest blockbusters of his career. Both films released in 2006; Don collected 51 crores at the Indian box-office, while Dhoom 2 was the biggest grosser of the year with 81 crores!

O Saiyyan Video Song – Agneepath
After Katrina Kaif’s super-hot item number Chikni Chameli, Dharma Productions have released a romantic video song ‘O Saiyyan’.
Lead pair Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra share excellent chemistry. Great lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya and the song is nice too – although Sonu Nigam’s Abhi Mujh Mein Kahi remains our favorite romantic track in the Agneepath album.
The O Saiyyan Song Video from Agneepath. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. Directed by Karan Malhotra, Agneepath has music composed by Ajay and Atul. The song ‘O Saiyyan’ has been sung by Roop Kumar Rathod with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Don 2 Movie Reviews from UK
Don 2 released in UK today and here are some of the short movie reviews from those who have already watched Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release.
-Harika Chadha’s Review: My Don 2 verdict: absolutely fabulous, clever script, slick production, brilliant acting and outstanding dialogues 9.5/10 (- 0.5 for Priyanka Chopra). Brilliant from start to finish! Excellent first and second half. Bollywood signs off 2011 spectacularly with Don 2. It exceeded my expectations by far, and I had very high expectations to start with!
-Mansoor hafeeza sent a tweet to Farhan Akhtar saying: Hey farhan .. The response is amazing in uk.. Just came out after watching don 2 in Wandsworth London .. What a movie year
-Will Sheppard’s Review: Watch Don 2 to see Shahrukh Khan and Boman Irani give amazing performances, priyanka do her usual rubbish, explosions, car chases and only one song!
-Mahendra Kumar Giri: Nice work done by Farhan Akhtar! Made a man make switch over from Cartoon (R-1) movie to action thriller Don 2 !!
-Javed Kana: Premiere of Don 2. Nail-biting first half. SRK ROCKS!! And Farhan Akhtar’s direction is first rate!!!
Jay Mamtora’s Don 2 review and impressions spread over several tweets. Some interesting points, do read.
-Don 2 (at) Interval: slick and gripping movie and the 3D is very effective! Let’s hope the curse of the second half doesn’t strike!
-Shahrukh Khan makes a great villain and the action sequences are outstanding – they put Ra One to shame.
-Don 2 totally kicks ass! What a film great action, suspense, coherent plot, interesting characterisations… Very Hollywood!
-SRK performed really well… None of his usual hamming… Very restrained and stylish being a villain really suits him!
-Priyanka Chopra was good in whatever she had to do and aced the action sequences but I wish there was more of her! The interaction and her relationship with Don is very interesting
-And what I loved was the fact that there were no unwanted songs and so there was no interruption in the plot. It was waay better than Don 1!
-The supporting cast were good too especially Boman Irani. Kunal Kapoor and Lara Dutta were average
-Essentially Don 2 is a boys film. Great action and explosions and an interesting plot too. The characters were very grey nobody was black or white! They should definitely have a third part
-I didn’t really count the action sequences but I loved how there was a certain consistency abt the film – no bakwas!
-On Don 2′s Runtime: it was about 2hrs 20mins I think :-)
-It’s so cool and slick and really shows that Bollywood can make good action films too
-I’d say about 3.5 to 4 stars… I really enjoyed it was hooked didn’t get bored at all
-Not killer suspense. no, but I liked how everything fell into place. It wasn’t stupid suspense like say Race (Abbas-Mustan film) it made sense.
-it (theater) wasn’t completely full.. But people were laughing at SRK’s witty remarks and saying how much better it was than Ra One
-On Hrithik Roshan’s role: He didn’t have that big a role but was okay in whatever little he had to do. He was dapper and dashing as usual but i was slightly disappointed about the way he was used (in Don 2)
-No Don 2 won’t break Bodyguards record I don’t think but I’m hoping it does well as it was really well made
-I liked the story it followed through nicely from Don 1
-second half was better than the first for a change
-It’s a thousand times better than Don 1 I didnt really like Don 1
-I want to watch the first one again as it refers back to the first quite a bit I would like to watch in succession
-SRK was restrained and subtle not his usual over the top acting that’s why I enjoyed it
-I must say 3D was very well done
-Hrithik was in for about 5 mins this is an out and out SRK movie
-Not slow paced at all. The action kicks off in the first 5 mins that’s what I liked no time wasting
-Very mission impossible (Hollywood movies), slick and believable no dishum dishum like standard Bollywood films
-On Sahil Shroff: the newcomer was handsome but his performance was nothing to write home about
-i have a feeling it will definitely do well and help SRK reclaim some lost glory post Ra One
-I think it won’t break bodyguards record because people were so disappointed with Ra One
-I liked the climax it was exciting and the way it ended
We’d like to thank Jay Mamtora for giving us his consent to publish his tweets here on Indicine. He covered most of the points – right from Hrithik’s cameo, the action sequences, performances to the box-office performance of the film. Quite obviously, most people were keen on knowing if the film will break Bodyguard’s record. He thinks it won’t, but if it’s a well-made film and liked when it releases in India, it had good chances.

3 Idiots is now Bollywood’s Biggest HIT Overseas
Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots has broken all overseas records to become the highest grossing Bollywood film ever!
The Aamir Khan – Kareena Kapoor starrer has won the hearts of the Chinese audience, who just cannot seem to get enough of Ranchodas Chanchad and Silencer, characters played by Aamir and Omi Vaidya.
3 Idiots, which was released during Christmas 2009 in India, was released in China just two weeks back with 900 prints, by far the biggest release for a Bollywood film in China. The movie has become an instant hit with the audience and has collected around Rs 11 Crore in just 14 days.
Sameer Rao, CEO of Vinod Chopra Films, tells us “China is the second biggest film market after the United States but it is very difficult to enter because only twenty foreign films can be screened in China in a year. After its success in just two weeks, the Vidhu Chopra camp has built high hopes that the movie will have a very long run in the Chinese market.”
We also spoke to Anil Arjun, the CEO of Reliance Media Works, who said “The message in the film has been the pull factor in the film. Such a great response from a non-traditional territory like China is a welcome phenomenon for the Hindi film Market.”
This extra ordinary success in the Chinese Market has made 3 Idiots the highest grossing movie in the overseas market with a total of Rs 121 crores. It’s success has opened doors to other Indian movies in the Chinese market.
Audrey Lee, who leads the Chinese distributor firm Ekdo Films, said “Films from various countries are given a chance to be released in China under the quota system. As 3 Idiots is doing very well, Indian Films now have a better chance to be released in China. The local distributors too shall try hard as they have seen the response an Indian film can get.”

'Don 2' gathers Rs 48.39 crore in opening weekend
The last big film of the year 'Don 2' is going strong at the box office. Initial collections suggest that the Hindi film industry is going to finish the year with a hit film.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted about the total weekend collection of the film. He tweets,"Don2 collects Rs 48.39 cr nett in its opng wknd [Hindi + Tamil + Telugu]. Breakup: Fri 15.3 cr, Sat 15.09 cr, Sun 18 cr [early estimates]."
He further says that the business of 'Don 2' suffered on Saturday but again picked up on Sunday due to the Christmas holiday.
If initial trade reports are to be believed then the film has done better at multiplexes than small centres. Adarsh says,"While the film has fared exceptionally well at multiplexes, the business at single screens and B & C centres is way below the mark."
'Don 2' was not hugely publicized as another Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'RA.One' but the makers had ensured a good publicity drive by releasing Don quotes and graphic comic books based on the film.
In overseas markets, 'Don 2' broke the record for the highest single day gross for a Hindi film in Australia with estimated earnings of US$82,000 on Friday. The earlier record was Reliance Entertainment's 'Bodyguard' at US$74,000.
'Don 2', also starring Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, Kunal Kapoor and Lara Dutta earned $550,000 in North America, beating 'My Name is Khan' opening day gross of $445,000.
'Don 2' released with 3,000 movie prints in the domestic market and a 3D release on another 550 screens.(With additional inputs from IANS)

'Chikni Chameli' was not my style: Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif is garnering a lot of praise for gyrating to item number 'Chikni Chameli' in Karan Johar's forthcoming film 'Agneepath', but the actress says the 'lavni' style dancing was not a cakewalk for her.
"The response to 'Chikni Chameli' has been fun so far. It was hard work. It was very fast and it was not a style I was used to, but I took it as a challenge...I think we all went for it as a team and did the best we could. I am happy people are liking it," the 27-year-old actress said here while launching new range of Panasonic airconditioners.
Even actor Salman Khan is smitten by the song and Katrina is happy about this.
"He has not told that to me but I think that's a great thing. He has a great taste in music and songs. So, if he likes it then it's great," said Katrina who featured in two more item numbers in 'Shiela ki jawani' and 'Bodyguard'.
New Year is round the corner and Katrina is pleased with the way 2011 shaped up for her.
"2011 has been a really great year for me. All the goals I had in hand, I think everything turned out really well. I am very grateful for that...The best I could have wanted to come out of every project has come true this year," said Katrina who had two releases this year - 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' and 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan'.
Katrina has some plum projects in her kitty -- she is working on 'Ek Tha Tiger' with Salman, 'Dhoom 3' and Yash Chopra's untitled new venture which is expected to feature Shah Rukh Khan.

Don 2 Sunday Collections
Don 2 ‘s Third Day box Office Collections Were a Small Turnover. Since, Most of the Reviews are good the film was expected to show bigger jumps.
But The Jump Was not so Big. It Collected around 16 cr on its 3rd Day according to early estimates. Although this is a good figure but could have been better.
The Collections are not so high as the single screens in Central India have shown falls or remained steady. Hence, the First Weekend Total is Nearly 46 crores.

Don 2 Saturday Collections
Don 2′s second day box office collections showed a decent jump from Friday. The film could not set any record on day 1.
But Don 2 is sure to be one of the top grossers of the year. After a 13.75 Cr first day, it collected 15-15.25 Cr on Saturday.
The occupancies rose all over India. Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh multiplexes were nearly 100% for all morning and afternoon shows. The single screens in West Bengal are extremely excellent.
The two day total is 29 Crores approx. If it shows a good jump on Sunday, which i am sure it will, then the first weekend collections will come around 48 Crores which is the third best figure of the year after Bodyguard and Ra.One.

Agneepath 2nd trailer out
Dharma Productions has just released the new trailer of Agneepath.
It’s starts with Kancha’s laughter and all the characters in the film
are introduced.
Hrithik has a couple of dialogues and quite wisely, the makers have made the character completely different from Amitabh Bachchan’s Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. Comparisons will still be inevitable, but we feel Hrithik has done very well in whatever little that we get to see.
Do watch the New Agneepath Trailer and tell us what you think. For us, it’s outstanding! Can’t wait for January 26th!

Don 2 movie review by Taran Adarsh
3.5/5
Remaking the Amitabh Bachchan classic DON was a risk in itself. Not only because it is one of Bachchan's most iconic characters, but also because films like SHOLAY, DON, AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY, DEEWAR, TRISHUL, MUQADDAR KA SIKANDER [and many, many more] redefined the cinema of 1970s and 1980s. Farhan Akhtar accepted the challenge and attempted a successful remake of DON with SRK.
Paanch saal baad, Farhan and his team of writers decide to carry the concept frontward with DON 2. I genuinely feel that sequels shouldn't be attempted if you don't have an enthralling story to narrate. This time, Farhan chooses an entirely new concept, garnishes it with classic action, stunning visuals, giving it an international look and feel… the intention is to make the second part superior and enhanced than the first. Also, the fascination for thrillers such as M.I., BOURNE and BOND series is pretty evident.
While one was abundantly aware of what the first part had to offer [since it was a remake], one is completely oblivious about what the sequel has in store. And it is this facet of the film that kindles colossal interest. You cannot tell what Don's next move would be. As the reels unfold, you realize that he's cold blooded. You can't mess with him. He's dangerous to deal with. He has an agenda. Ditto for Roma [Priyanka Chopra], who shares a tumultuous relationship with Don. It's a cat and mouse chase.
When viewed in isolation, DON 2 looks like the right package to woo the movie-going junta -- SRK in top form, a stylishly crafted story, pulsating and invigorating action and stunts. But it's not without its share of hiccups. In fact, the first hour and the post-interval portions of the film are akin to the two sides of the same coin. The first hour is bland, the second is energetic. The first hour is deficient in thrills, the second keeps you on the edge. The first hour disentangles at a languid pace, the second is feverish with several adrenaline rush moments.
DON 2 begins in Thailand and moves to Malaysia. Don [SRK] surrenders himself to the cops [Om Puri, Priyanka Chopra] and is sent to a Malaysian prison. There, he meets his old foe Vardhan [Boman Irani]. Don hatches a conspiracy to escape with Vardhan and they succeed as well. They reach Zurich, then Berlin. The motive is to rob the currency plates. It's an unfeasible task, but Don takes the help of a hacker [Kunal Kapoor] to accomplish his plans.
With DON 2, Farhan Akhtar reasserts himself as one of Hindi cinema's stylish storytellers. It wouldn't be erroneous to state that DON 2 redefines slick in Bollywood. But the film could've done with a tighter script. Besides, the writing is urban-centric and those with an appetite for international thrillers may take to the film instantly, especially the twists and turns in the second hour. Again, the conclusion to the story could've been simplified for the average viewer to decipher. Yet, all said and done, DON 2 mirrors the changing trends in Hindi cinema. Those with the conventional attitude or tilting towards the conservative form of cinema may find it difficult to absorb.
DON is also acknowledged for its vibrant and eminent dialogue. One can conjure up the lines from the original Bachchan starrer and in DON 2, the lines are in sync with the various guises and situations of the Don. The dialogue are masterly and the flamboyance with which SRK delivers the lines is what makes it exceptional. The lines are cooler, hip, zany, witty and at the same time, easy on the lips. They're sure to become the new catchphrases in times to come, like the one you recall even today: 'Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, na-mumkin hain'.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the trusted and prominent names in Excel's movies, dishearten this time around. In fact, the music is the sole sore point of the film. Sure, it has vigor and spice, but the wow factor is amiss. The film deserved a much, much superior score to match up to the standards set by Farhan Akhtar. Jason West's cinematography is dazzling. Filmed in Germany, Switzerland, Malaysia and Thailand, the film is visually enchanting. The action and stunts are spectacular.
DON 2 marks SRK's return to anti-hero roles after enacting such roles with flourish so early in his career. Recall BAAZIGAR, DARR and ANJAAM. He plays a wicked, debonair anti-hero in DON 2. The character he portrays is iniquitous and sinful, but attractive at the same time and SRK lives it up with gusto. Besides, SRK has also experimented with varied looks in the film, from a debonair looking guy to a person with unkempt hair and stubble. Without doubt, DON 2 is SRK's best action movie to date.
Priyanka revisits her character of Roma in DON 2. Not only is the character more evolved, even her performance is of a high order. In fact, she enacts the role of an angry, tough lady who means business with a vengeance. Lara Dutta looks glamorous and alluring, but her character lacks meat.
Kunal Kapoor is decent, though he doesn't really get the scenes to prove his credentials. An actor of the caliber of Om Puri is wasted this time. Boman Irani lends the right texture to his character. He excels yet again. Nawab Shah should hit big league with DON 2. He plays one of the baddies with conviction. Alyy Khan is natural, enacting his part with ease. Sahil Shroff has screen presence and stands out in a brief role. Hrithik Roshan appears in a cameo.
On the whole, DON 2 rides on star power and brand value. The film has a bland first hour, but the second half takes the film to another level. There's no denying that a cohesive script would've made a world of a difference to the film, but the tremendous hype, star power and the lucrative period [Christmas and New Year celebrations] will make its investors reap a harvest.

Asin wants to act with Rajinikanth
The latest buzz from Kollywood circles say that she might play
the female lead in Rajinikant-starrer 'Kochadaiyaan', but Asin said she
would act opposite the 'Thalaivar' if she was offered a good role.
"I wish to work with Rajini... If I come across a good project I will certainly act (opposite him)," she said. The 26-year-old actress will be next seen opposite Akshay Kumar in 'Housefull 2' and the actress is looking forward to the release of the film, which boasts of 22 major actors working in it.
"We wrapped up shooting in record time and the film is ready for an April release. It has shaped up very well. I am looking forward to it," she told reporters at the announcement of the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards here. 'Housefull 2' boasts of 22 major actors including Akshay, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty. It was a huge challenge for Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan not just at the scripting stage, but also logistically.
"It was a lot of fun working with Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala. Both have managed such a huge cast very well. Everybody had a blast during the shoot," Asin said.
"It was also great sharing space with senior actors like Mithun Da, Rishiji, Randhirji, Boman Irani, Johnny Lever and the other girls (Jacqueline Fernandez and Zarine Khan). With such a big cast, it was literally housefull," she added.
Asin said apart from 'Housefull 2', she is working in 'Bol Bachchan' starring Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan and directed by Rohit Shetty. "We have just wrapped up one schedule and shooting is going on," she added.
When asked whether she has any plan to act in Hollywood flicks, Asin said, "I think right now I better concentrate on Indian cinema."

Hrithik goes silent for Agneepath
If you are expecting another round of intense conversations involving
Vijay Deenanath Chauhan in Karan Johar’s remake of Agneepath then
you’re in for a surprise. Because Hrithik Roshan won’t be replicating
Amitabh Bachchan’s baritone and swagger in the 2012 version. Instead of a
powerful don, we will see him essay the character of a silent underdog.
Undoubtedly, it’s quite daring to turn around the central character. But Karan is confident that the audience will take to the new ‘Vijay’ as well. “This is what makes it all the more exciting, doesn’t it? To have an underdog like him seek revenge from an impossible antagonist (Sanjay Dutt) is what would make the audience clap for him,” says Karan. But doesn’t that risk Hrithik getting overshadowed by Sanjay Dutt? “Hrithik is a brilliant actor. You’ll see the full graph when you would see the entire film,” he adds.

Ekta Kapoor to make Punjabi soaps
Ekta Kapoor is now venturing into Punjabi soaps. She is producing a
show starring Teejay Sidhu in the lead. It launches early next year.
Teejay will be shown running a roadside dhaba with her two sisters and
her mother.
Shah Rukh skips Farah's house warming party
Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder held a housewarming bash on Tuesday night. The couple have shifted to a new place in Lokhandwala.
While Sallu and Big B were present, Shah Rukh Khan was conspicious by his absence. Hmmm... Blame it on his upcoming film's promotions?
Kerala Police registers case against Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh, who was here on December 4 in connection with the
inauguration of the showroom, had performed the popular number 'Chamak
Challo' from his recently released movie 'RA.One', along with some
skimpily clad artistes.
Police said the cases have been registered against Shah Rukh and partners of a textile showroom here, who organised the function, under sect 3, 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) act 1986 and under IPC sections 294 (obscene acts and songs), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate A Ijas had directed police to register cases against the actor and partners of the private textile showroom after a petition by one Mathew Saju Pulluvuzhi.

Rakhi Sawant says Katrina follows her dance moves
"I have done this in 'Dekhta hai tu kya' and she did this in 'Shiela ki jawaani'. In 'Chikni Chameli', she is again following me. It seems Katrina really likes me...It's alright if someone wants to follow me and dance," added Rakhi, who did a cameo in a few films before featuring in a full-fledged item number "Chura liyaa hai tumne" in 2003.
Rakhi hasn't got any awards so far. When asked about it, she compared herself with Aamir Khan, though in a light-hearted manner, and said: "Aamir and I are similar. Neither he gets awards, nor do I. But we have won the heart of India and we do not need an award."
The loud-mouth actress, who has dabbled both in television and films, was last seen on the big screen in an item song in "Loot". On small screen, she hosted the reality talk-show "Ajab Desh Ki Ghazab Kahaaniyan".
'Dam 999' songs for 'Oscars'
Apart from AR Rahman, no Indian composer has managed to grab a place at the Oscars. But that seems to have changed this year.
Three songs from the film Dam 999, composed by veteran Kerala-based National Award winning composer Ousephachan's (who composes for most Malayalam films) are part of the final 39 songs selected for the Academy's Original Songs category.
Interestingly, this is Ousepachchan's first English film and though the film did not manage to garner great response, the music obviously has. The Oscar nominations will be announced on January 24.

His last film "Singham" was a blockbuster. Meanwhile, Shetty is busy shooting for his new film "Bol Bachchan", starring Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.

I really love 'Chikni Chameli': Vaibhavi Merchant
Choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant is in awe of Katrina Kaif's item number 'Chikni Chameli' in Karan Johar's "Agneepath".

Katrina danced to "Sheila ki jawaani" in Farah Khan's "Tees Maar Khan" and has donned the desi look in "Chikni Chameli".

Lyrics and Translation for Chikni Chameli
Bichoo mere naina
(My eyes are like a scorpion)
Badi zeherli ankh mare
(They wink poisonously)
Kamsin kamariya saali
(My bitchy young waist)
Ek thumke se lakh mare
(Can kill lakhs by just a jerk) x 2
Note hazaroon ke, khula chuta karane aayi
(I have come to take change of thousand of rupee notes)
Husn ke tili se
(With the fire of my body)
Beedi, chilam jalane aayi
(I have come to light up cigarettes and cigars)
Aayi chikni chameli
(Good looking chameli has come)
Chupke akeli
(Quietly and alone)
Pauha chadhake aayi x 4
(Has come here after drinking a quarter peg)
Jungle mein aaj mungle karungi
(I will go crazy in this jungle)
Bhooke shero se khelungi mein
(I will play with hungry lions)
Makhan jaisi hateli pe jalte angare le lungi mein
(I will take burning coals in my butter like hands)
Haye, gehre paani ki machli hoon raja
(I am a fish of the deep waters, my king)
Ghat, ghat, dariya mein ghumi hoon mein

Kareena Kapoor joins Twitter to promote her upcoming movie 'Heroine'
Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has so far kept herself away from
social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, but she is making an
exception for Madhur Bhandarkar's movie 'Heroine'.
The 31-year-old actress has joined Twitter via producer UTV
Motion Pictures' account, just for this movie. She will share moments
from the shooting of the movie and be up, close and personal with her
fans about her character and working experience on the sets of
'Heroine'.
"I will be on Twitter for the first time as heroine, my character in UTV Motion Pictures and Madhur Bhandarkar's film. It will be a new experience for me and I'm really looking forward for it. I think I will thoroughly enjoy it. I will be
doing so from UTV's Twitter handle utvmp," Kareena said.
Initially Kareena had turned down the film and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had taken up the project. But she backed out after announcing the news of her pregnancy and Bhandarkar turned to Kareena again.
The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda and Shahana Goswami. The music has been composed by duo Salim-Sulaiman. The film will hit theatres in July next year.

(Kolaveri Di ) Dhanush over the 'moon-u'
Dhanush never expected Kolaveri Di to become such a rage. "It's
ironical that the song is viral on the Net, even though I am not much
of a networking person. I don't go beyond Twitter," says the
soft-spoken South Indian actor who's known for films like Kadhal
Kondein, Pudhupettai and Aadukalam. He said that
"The making of Kolaveri Di was more like a jamming session. We were having a lot of fun and that shows in the video. We are thrilled to break the North-South language barrier with Kolaveri Di. I am simply ecstatic. I don't think that I will be able to repeat the success of Kolaveri Di. It's an accident (laughs). I won't think of myself as a popstar after this song.
Music has always been a part of my life. I grew up listening to S Janaki who is as famous in the South as Lata Mangeshkarji is in the North. I am a huge fan of Ilaiyaraaja, who is a legend down South. In singers, I love listening to Lucky Ali, Adnan Sami and Mohit Chauhan.
I dream of directing a Bollywood film one day. I have short-listed some actors/actresses in my mind, but it's too early to talk about it. I'll start work on it by mid next year."

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol -movie review by Rajeeb Masand
Cast: Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton
Director: Brad Bird
Midway through 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol', Tom Cruise's character, secret agent Ethan Hunt is seen scaling Dubai's 2,700-foot Burj Khalifa with nothing more than a pair of sticky gloves. Anyone suffering from a fear of heights would be advised to shut their eyes during this breathtaking but also vertigo-inducing sequence that's been filmed in IMAX, and is believed to be performed by Cruise himself. As the camera stares down from the 130th floor of the world's tallest building to capture Cruise making his way up unsteadily, more than likely you'll be clinging to your armrest.
'Ghost Protocol' is easily the most enjoyable of the four Mission Impossible movies, not least because it borrows the best elements of each of the previous films and fuses them to create a fast-paced, clever, and – believe it or not – humorous adventure. Applying the same "no limits" mantra that he used to turn The Incredibles and Ratatouille into such distinctly original and imaginative enterprises, animation veteran Brad Bird, making his live-action debut here, happily sacrifices plausibility for the sake of fun and thrills. What Bird also brings to the table is that genius Pixar touch, turning Hunt and his fellow IMF agents into a variation of the superhero family from The Incredibles.
Hunt's team on this new mission comprises tough-as-nails newbie Jane Carter (Paula Patton), gadget-guy Benji (Simon Pegg reprising his role from MI:3), and mysterious desk analyst William Brandt (Jeremy Renner). Together the team must overcome all manner of obstacles – including being disavowed by the US President when they're (falsely) blamed for bombing the Kremlin – in their pursuit of crazy Russian businessman Kurt Hendricks (Michael Nvqvist), who's determined to blow up the world.
Bird sets the tone early with a cheeky jailbreak scene in Moscow, that's followed by a nifty sequence in which Hunt and his team penetrate a private vault at the Kremlin using a virtual-reality trick to get past security. The wall-to-wall action continues as the team heads to Dubai for that dizzyingly brilliant skyscraper break-in sequence, and a breathless foot and car chase in a blinding sandstorm. It all ends in good ol' Mumbai (recreated in Vancouver and Dubai, sadly) where Hunt and his nemesis duel it out at a fancy parking garage with moving platforms.
Despite its improbable plot and frankly preposterous scenarios, Ghost Protocol races along briskly with earnest performances from its central players, until it arrives at that schmaltzy climax. There's some pleasure to be had watching Anil Kapoor in a cameo as a sleazy Indian billionaire, who sportingly lets Patton's character take him out in a few quick moves.
Shot and edited with remarkable flair, Ghost Protocol is a treat for the senses. Cruise, who's pushing 50 but hasn't lost any of his charm, makes a convincing action hero, exuding warmth, humor and vulnerability to humanize the part. But the film belongs to its captain, director Brad Bird, who recognizes exactly what the franchise needed for a quickstart.
I'm going with three-and-a-half out of five for 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol'. It's exactly the kind of film that goes very well with a bucket of popcorn!

Ladies VS Ricky Bahl : movie review by Taran Aadarsh
A
Yash Raj film is interminably special for a movie enthusiast. Right
from good looking stars styled most gorgeously, a fine plot,
harmonious/foot tapping music, visually dazzling locales, loads of
entertainment… it has it all, packaged well to cater to the desi
sensibilities. The expectations, therefore, soar upwards when the
triumphant team of BAND BAAJA BAARAAT bracket together for an altogether
new motion picture -- LADIES VS RICKY BAHL. The query uppermost on
everyone's minds is, will this prized team dish up a far superior and an
enhanced entertainer for its patrons this time as well?
BAND BAAJA BAARAAT was an underdog with zilch expectations attached to it. It was the dark horse of 2010. But this time, there is hope, anticipation and of course, humungous expectations.
Okay, so before we begin to 'dissect' LADIES VS RICKY BAHL, let's clear a few misconceptions. The rumor goes that LADIES VS RICKY BAHL seeks inspiration from JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE [2006; Jesse Metcalfe]. Incidentally, the same was said about Yash Raj's youth-centric banner, Y-Films' first venture LUV KA THE END. There's talk that LADIES VS RICKY BAHL also borrows from another movie, SPREAD [2009; Ashton Kutcher] and also from Jeffrey Archer's novel 'Not A Penny More, Not A Penny Less'. In the existing circumstances, making a bare-faced rip off would be blasphemous [read copyright issues]. However, I'd like to add, LADIES VS RICKY BAHL takes the same route as Yash Raj's earlier success BUNTY AUR BABLI. Actually, there's no commonality between BUNTY AUR BABLI and LADIES VS RICKY BAHL, except that both have the con angle as the wallpaper. But comparisons apart, it's a novel, contemporary tale [story: Aditya Chopra].
Dimple [Parineeti Chopra], a brash Delhi girl falls in love with Sunny, a fitness trainer. Raina [Dipannita Sharma], an independent and successful corporate woman in Mumbai, does business with an art dealer Deven. Saira [Aditi Sharma], a hard working widow in Lucknow, makes a new friend, the shy Iqbal. Three different girls who get taken for a ride by three different men.
The problem is, it is actually one man -- Ricky Bahl [Ranveer Singh], a suave and charming con-man, who revels in the game and is only chasing money.
A chance encounter brings these three women together, who vow to track down Ricky Bahl and get their money back. The next step is the actual plan. Enter Ishika [Anushka Sharma], a young and ambitious girl. The game is set in Goa…
If the promos give an indication that it's just another con flick or an extension of BAND BAAJA BAARAAT, you're in for a bolt from the blue. It's not! What's common is that LADIES VS RICKY BAHL also has ingeniously written characters and some truly engaging moments. While the first story [involving Parineeti] stands out, the second story [Dipannita] is strictly okay, while the third [Aditi] is not as convincing.
LADIES VS RICKY BAHL is a film of today and the women here are not abla naaris who will sit back and weep, but seek vengeance or at least get even with the offender. However, the screenplay [Devika Bhagat] isn't able to tap the potential that the plot provides. That's because the ploys that Anushka and her gang of girls employ to get even with Ranveer come across as preposterous and outlandish at times. Because the tricks played by the girls are unreal than sensible, even the youngsters may not really enjoy the drama in its entirety. Also, the film dips in the post-interval portions and tends to get sluggish as well. Fortunately, the director ensures that the film gets back on track and rounds off with a pounding culmination.
Director Maneesh Sharma has handled a number of sequences expertly. The start [the Delhi episode] is most enjoyable and the concluding portions are equally captivating. It's the in between that vacillates between ordinary and absorbing. Coming from Maneesh Sharma, the director of one of the best films of 2010, one expected a lot more meat from the proceedings. Habib Faisal's dialogue are incredibly witty, with the humor delicately woven in the one-liners. Music composers Salim-Sulaiman and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya join hands to create high-octane, full-of-energy tracks. 'Aadat Se Majboor' and 'Jazba' are vibrant, while 'Thug Le', during the end credits, stands out for its choreography. Aseem Mishra's cinematography is top notch.
LADIES VS RICKY BAHL projects Anushka in immaculate light, bestowing her the opportunity to ascertain yet another facet of her persona, which was hitherto unidentified by spectators. Exuding solid screen presence, Anushka wows you with her natural elucidation of the character. Ranveer is the scene stealer here. He's charismatic, spontaneous and glides into his character with amazing ease. He, most definitely, has the aptitude to go places if he chooses the right films and makes the accurate career moves.
Parineeti Chopra springs a pleasant surprise. She has wonderful screen presence and acts freely. In fact, the viewers would take to her character instantly. Dipannita Sharma carries off her part with poise and grace, while Aditi Sharma is subdued, but natural to the core. The actor enacting the role of Parineeti's father is first-rate.
On the whole, LADIES VS RICKY BAHL is, at best, a decent fare, which appeals in parts. The film starts well, even ends well. It's the in between that's plain ordinary. One definitely expected more from the director of the immensely likeable BAND BAAJA BAARAAT. Ideally, the film merits a two-and-a-half star rating, but that extra half star is for Ranveer and Anushka, who steal your heart with truly striking performances.

Playing villain one of the greatest highs: SRK
Now-a-days negative rule has become very popular like
'Baazigar', 'Darr' and 'Anjaam' and now Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 2: the
King is Back'.
It started with Abbas-Mustan thriller 'Baazigar' in which SRK played a negative role. Yash Chopra's 'Darr' (1993), was the story of an obsessive lover played by Shah Rukh. A same story in 'Anjaam' had the actor play a bad guy opposite Madhuri Dixit in the female lead.
Ask him if the negative characters are liked and memorable, Shahrukh says, "Evil or devil, black or little grey characters, be it in books, stories, films or television, have some sort of an attraction. I started with theatre and there was nothing like a heroic character. There was a central character or an important character. I have played good and bad on stage. When I joined films I got a chance to play these characters again."
"Now, after 15-20 years, I got a chance to play a negative character in 'Don'. There is a justification for the character to be negative, to be bad. I enjoy doing it. I am in no way glorifying negative characters. These are stories and characters. But as an actor, it is one of the greatest highs to play a villain," he said.

Aishwarya in Rajnikanth’s next film
now the buzz is that the new mommy may be a part of superstar Rajnikanth’s next film Kochadaiyaan where she is expected to do a guest appearance. In that case, her rumoured next with Sanjay Leela Bhansali may not be her first on-screen appearance after all, post her deliver.
Though the leading lady for the film Kochadaiyaan is yet to be finalised, it was decided from the very beginning that they would request Aishwarya to do a special appearance.”Film buffs lapped up the chemistry between Ash and Rajnikanth in Robot, which incidentally was the lone hit the actress delivered in 2010. So it won’t be surprising if she grabs this opportunity; to be seen beside the Boss works for her in every way.Adds the source, “Rajni sir shares a very warm relationship with Aishwarya and there’s little chance that she would say no to him.Even during the making and promotions of Robot, it was evident that they would definitely work in a film together again. However, now that Ash has other family and professional commitments, it seems difficult for her to devote time for a full-fledged role and hence this.”

Highest Tax Payers in Bollywood in 2011
we have no info on the advance taxes paid by Shahrukh Khan ,Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
We think all three are somewhere in the Top 5 – SRK makes a lot of
money through brand endorsements and his movies. Salman Khan gets a
major share in most of his blockbusters and
he’s had three in the last one and a half years. As for Hrithik, he
became the highest paid television star, when Star paid him a whopping 2
crores for each episode of it’s reality dance show – Just Dance.
- Akshay Kumar - 6 crores
- Katrina Kaif - 3 crores
- Ranbir Kapoor -2.6 crores
- Amitabh Bachchan -2.5 crores
- Kareena Kapoor -2 crores
- Amir Khan -1 crore

Hrithik Roshan in Don 2 for a short time
Finally, we have some details about Hrithik's role in Don 2, which so-far has been a well-kept secret.
Sources say, Hrithik will be playing the role of Don himself and in one of the scenes he will remove his mask and it’ll be Shahrukh khan
in Disguise! The source also adds that it’ll Hrithik will appear in a
short action scene, following which he will reveal his real identity.
Last year, Hrithik shot for Don 2 in Berlin and his special appearance in the film was kept as a surprise element.
Either way, it’ll be fun to watch Hrithik and SRK share screen space once again.
Note: These are unconfirmed reports, Hrithik’s role could be totally different from what is mentioned above.
Tezz Postponed for Hrithik’s Agneepath
The battle between Hrithik and Ajay for box-office supremacy on Republic day next year, has quite sensibly been averted.
As expected, it’s the makers of Ajay Devgan’s Tezz who have decided to postpone their high-budget film by 2 months. Tezz will now arrive on March 23rd 2012.
Not so long ago, Ganesh Jain (producer) had promised that they won’t be postponing the release of Tezz, come what may “We were the first to announce the release date. We were ready to face Amir, we are ready to face competition from Hrithik Roshan too.” he had said.
But with about 35 days to go for January 26th, Tezz was always struggling against time to release with Agneepath. Add to that, the fact that, there is already a strong buzz around the Hrithik Roshan film and it was only sensible for Ganesh Jain to postpone Tezz.
So then, Agneepath will have a solo release and so will Tezz. Both films will benefit and both are expected to break some serious box-office records.
